Volunteers in Medicine Jacksonville Relocates West Jax Clinic to Community Health Outreach Campus
Volunteers in Medicine Jacksonville (VIMJAX), a leading provider of free healthcare for the working uninsured, is proud to announce the relocation of its West Jax Clinic to the Community Health Outreach (CHO) campus, effective October 1, 2025. The West Jax Clinic is a satellite clinic of VIMJAX’s South San Marco Dorion-Burt Clinic near Philips and Emerson, which continues to be in operation.
This strategic move marks a significant milestone in VIM’s mission to deliver compassionate, high-quality care to underserved communities. The new location at CHO’s integrated health campus on Jacksonville’s West Side will allow VIM to expand its services and collaborate more closely with CHO’s existing programs, including food distribution, Healthy Start and the Apple Project—a no-cost dental care initiative unique to Jacksonville.
“For over five years, we’ve been honored to serve the West Side in partnership with Inspire to Rise,” said Jennifer Ryan, MPH CEO of Volunteers in Medicine. “This transition to CHO’s campus enables us to grow and offer more comprehensive care in one location, including access to dental, pregnancy resources and nutritional support.”
Founded in 1988, Community Health Outreach provides holistic support to low-income and uninsured individuals through healthcare, food assistance, and infant care programs. “Volunteers in Medicine Jacksonville is a trusted healthcare partner in the community,” said Dr. Rob Thomas, CEO of CHO. “We are excited to welcome VIM to our 3-acre campus. This partnership expands access to vital services for those who need it most.”
VIMJAX created a satellite clinic at Inspire to Rise in June of 2020 after seeing a growing number of patients living in the 32210 zip code and finding out that it is the zip code with the highest number of individuals who utilize the emergency room- VIMJAX’s goal is to keep people healthy and out of emergency rooms. Since opening the doors VIMJAX’s West Jax clinic has provided over 1,500 visits and has saved the system over $6.5 million dollars in emergency room visit costs. VIMJAX operates on a budget of just $200,000 a year from the City of Jacksonville.
VIM’s West Jax Clinic provides primary care, women’s health and medications to over 120 individuals annually and will be moving from two exam rooms to three and continue to operate under its current schedule:
Tuesdays: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Thursdays: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Fridays: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
