UF Health North
Dr. LaRae C. Brown is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist, healthcare leader, and passionate advocate for maternal and child health. With over a decade of experience, she has built her career at the intersection of medicine, education, and community impact—driven by a deep commitment to improving outcomes for women and families across Florida and beyond.
As Division Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UF Health North and Medical Director for several women’s health sites, Dr. Brown leads teams that deliver compassionate, evidence-based care while mentoring physicians, residents, and advanced practice providers. Her leadership also extends statewide through roles on the Florida Maternal Mortality Review Committee, ACOG District XII Maternal Mortality Committee, and the Florida Perinatal Quality Collaborative.
A funded researcher and principal investigator on state and federal grants, her work explores how toxic stress and resilience shape maternal-child health. Through these efforts, she continues to elevate community-based strategies that promote well-being for mothers and infants. Her reputation as a compassionate clinician and trusted leader has earned her multiple accolades throughout the community, as well as within the University of Florida.
Known to many as “Dr. Rae,” she brings warmth, relatability, and science together through social media to empower women to prioritize wellness, balance, and self-care.
Beyond her professional life, Dr. Brown treasures time with her husband, six children, and large extended family. Rooted in the same community where she grew up, she continues to be guided by faith, gratitude, and the strong family values that ground her success.
