Volunteers in Medicine Launches Innovative Lifestyle Medicine Program

Because healthy living isn't about perfection—it's about creating a life that supports your healthiest self.

Beginning September 15, 2026, Volunteers in Medicine Jacksonville will launch Livin' the Life, an innovative six-week wellness program designed to help patients take control of their health through sustainable lifestyle changes. Due to anticipated demand and impact, the program is expected to be offered at least twice each year.

Centered on the six pillars of Lifestyle Medicine, Livin' the Life explores the powerful role that healthy sleep habits, physical activity, nutrition, stress management, avoidance of risky substances, and positive social connections play in overall well-being. Rather than focusing on short-term fixes, the program helps participants build practical, lasting habits that support lifelong health.

Participants, all patients of Volunteers in Medicine, will engage in interactive and hands-on experiences including guided grocery store tours, healthy cooking demonstrations, group walks, wellness discussions, and personalized goal-setting activities. These real-world experiences are designed to make healthy living accessible, enjoyable, and achievable.

The program is led by an experienced multidisciplinary team, including a Doctor of Nursing Practice, a motivational interviewing coach, and a registered nutritionist, who work together to support each participant's individual health goals. Through education, encouragement, and accountability, the team helps participants create meaningful changes that align with the life they want to live.
