A direct descendant of two of the last granny midwives in southern Alabama, Dr. Suzanne U. Horne is GuideWell/Florida Blue's Vice President, Senior Counsel and leads their Board Governance. As a seasoned attorney, Suzanne is responsible for all employment law matters, supporting human resource policy development, compensation, and benefit programs. She leads the Corporate Service Team within Legal Affairs, overseeing corporate contracting, subsidiary governance, mergers and acquisitions, real estate, data security, intellectual property, and record management, among other areas. Additionally, Suzanne leads the Board Governance team, supporting the boards of GuideWell and Florida Blue.
Prior to joining Florida Blue, Suzanne practiced law in St. Petersburg, Florida. Throughout her career, she has been actively involved in community and professional organizations, including the Florida Bar Association and the Jacksonville Bar Association. Suzanne has also served on the Jacksonville Ethics Commission and the PACE Center for Girls board. She currently serves as chair of the board of the Jacksonville Speech and Hearing Center. She is also the President of the GuideWell Political Action Committee, Florida Blue's employee PAC, and served for many years as the executive sponsor of the PossAbilities employee resource group, promoting awareness and support for people with disabilities and caregivers.
Outside of her professional life, Suzanne enjoys traveling, having visited 74 countries and all continents except Antarctica. She is married to Mark Horne, and they have two sons, Kyle (Hannah) and Connor (Bailey). Suzanne also enjoys gardening, reading, baking, and hiking. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Wake Forest University and a Juris Doctorate from Stetson University College of Law.
