LCDR (Dr.) Herlena O. Washington, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, is a retired United States Naval Officer with over 25 years of distinguished service and extensive expertise in healthcare administration, leadership, and community engagement. She holds degrees from the University of Oregon, Troy State University, the University of Phoenix, and a Doctorate in Christian Counseling from Kingdom Truth University.
Dr. Washington has dedicated her life to leadership, service, and mentorship. As President of Christ Sanctuary Ministries, Inc., she oversees community outreach, scholarship, and youth mentorship programs supporting underprivileged children and veterans initiatives and briefs.
An active Diamond Life member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. since 1997, she has held multiple leadership roles, including National Military Co-Chair and Chapter President, Florida State Military Liaison, and has led award-winning community initiatives. She is also a Diamond Life Member.
Dr. Washington’s honors include induction into the Florida Veterans Hall of Fame (2018), The Zeta Florida Hall of Fame – 2024, the Jacksonville Image Award (2022), and Women with Heart Honoree (2025). Her leadership continues to inspire through decades of service to God, country, and community.
