Ascension St. Vincent’s
Dr. Sonya J. Dominguez is a dedicated Family Physician with a strong commitment to medical education and community service. As the Associate Program Director for Ascension St. Vincent’s Family Medicine Residency Program and the Medical Director for Ascension St. Vincent’s Occupational Health, she plays a crucial role in shaping the future of primary care.
A native of Corpus Christi, Texas, Dr. Dominguez completed her undergraduate and medical education at Brown University and her Family Medicine Residency Training at St. Vincent’s FM Residency in Jacksonville, Florida. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Medicine, a member of the Florida Academy of Family Physicians, and holds additional fellowships in Academic Medicine and Program Director Development.
Dr. Dominguez has held various leadership positions within Ascension St. Vincent’s, including serving as President of the St. Vincent’s Riverside Medical Staff Executive Committee, Family Medicine Department Chief, Chair of Ascension Medical Group, and Chair of Ascension’s Clinician Engagement and Well Being Committee. She is a proud member of Clay County’s 100+ Women Who Care.
Dr. Dominguez is a co-founder of St. Vincent’s Family Medicine Chapter of Reach Out and Read, a national organization that provides children with age-appropriate books and teaches families the importance of reading together.
Her commitment to community service and her numerous awards, including Fleet Boston Community Fellows, Florida Times-Union 40 Under 40, Jacksonville Daughters of the Revolution Community Service Award, and St. Vincent’s Living the Mission and Values Award and Outstanding Faculty Award, are a testament to her impact.
Dr. Dominguez and her husband, Gary Moore II, are proud parents of Devon and Gabriella Moore, who are also actively involved in community advocacy.
